Look what is new this week….beautiful Westminster, Free Spirit, and an adorable group from Timeless Treasures.
They are even better in person. Come in and get a little piece for your new projects!
In addition to the GORGEOUS Renaissance Ribbons we now carry, we wanted to share some new items we have in the store that you may need OHMYGOSH RIGHT NOW or that might make great gift ideas.
Just a reminder, here are those gorgeous ribbons again. Prices on these range from $2.29 t0 $7.49 a yard.
Arriving soon, we have Sulky Cotton Petites threads which Sulky calls its “Handiest Handwork Thread.” These are 12 wt. cotton threads in 50 yard snap-end spools. Part of the genius of these threads is that you can use them for handwork AND on your sewing machine! They are great for hand embroidery, quilting, cross stitch, sashiko, blanket stitch, needlepunch, etc. We will have all 80 colors (66 solids, 14 blendables).
We think this sewing caddy from F.A. Edmunds is great!
As you can see, the easily removed rods will hold thread, perle cotton, ribbon, etc. The drawer at the bottom slides in and out either side and the top is a sturdy handle. A great carry-along for so many things — all of your threads and tools together as you work on a large applique project, for example. The small wooden spools are also available in a bag of 20 for $19.95. The caddy itself is $69.95. What a great gift idea!
We will again be selling the NIFTY and CUTE Janome Hello Kitty 3/4 size sewing machine.
This machine isn’t just for kids! Many, many of our customers love this machine to take along to classes and retreats. Hello Kitty has a free-arm, 11 stitches including a built-in buttonhole, and weighs in at only 12 pounds. It is backed by Janome’s renowned quality and a five-year warranty for the machine head and two-year warranty on the electronics. The Janome Hello Kitty sells for $149.95 until Christmas. Keep this great little machine in mind. It’s almost small enough to be a stocking stuffer!
We’ll be posting photos from around the store of other great gift ideas, so be sure to check in with us regularly as the holidays approach.
We hope you’ll stop in soon and see what’s new!

This weekend is Quilt Market, and most of our staff will be out of town getting lots of new ideas to bring back to our shop. As a result, we’ll have shortened hours this weekend- we will be open fro 1:30-5pm on Saturday, and closed all day Sunday. We look forward to sharing our Quilt Market bounty with you soon!
There’s big news for modern quilters this month- a chapter of the Modern Quilt Guild is being launched and their first meeting is at our shop on Tuesday, Oct 30th at 6:30pm. If you are interested in modern quilting and would like to be involved in the exciting launch of the Detroit Area Modern Quilt Guild (DAM Quilt Guild for short), we hope to see you there! No need to bring any sewing equipment- this first meeting will focus on getting organized, selecting officers, and making plans for future events. Please visit the DAMQG on facebook to stay updated.
Meanwhile, Guildcrafters has been preparing for the upcoming fall and holiday seasons. Our Christmas fabric continues to come in and we have several new projects, including an adorable Halloween table runner. Head on over to our Quilt Pictures n’ Kits section to see pictures of our new creations!
You may have heard whisperings about a new collection from Basic Grey called Little Black Dress. Well, we loved it so much that we’re working on TWO separate quilts with it, but it will also be available on the bolt. Here’s a peek at one of our favorite prints:
Have you jumped on the hexagon bandwagon yet? Hexagons (sometimes called “hexies”) are all the rage, and we’ve had several customers ask if we’re carrying the ready-to-go hexagon papers for paper piecing. The answer is YES we are!
