Golden Gate Block

We’re getting a new table topper ready for the store and thought we’d share directions for the block we used. The Golden Gate block is easy to make. Ours finishes to 15″ square. For the table topper, we made nine blocks. Add a few more blocks for a nice sized throw or picnic quilt.

Golden Gate Block – 15″ square

For each block, cut:

A (background): Cut 2 – 6″ squares; cut in half once diagonally
B: Cut 2 – 6″ squares; cut in half once diagonally
C: Cut 8 – 2 1/4″ x 5 1/2″
D: Cut 4 – 2″ x 5 1/2″
E (center square): Cut 1 – 5 1/2″ square

Piece together as in block diagram (trim A/B units to 5 1/2″ before piecing block):

Here’s how it might look in color:

The table topper will be in the store soon where we’ll have patterns for the entire quilt.

We hope you have fun with this versatile block!
