Retreat Details and Schedule

Here is information for those of you attending the upcoming retreat. If you have any questions, please call us at 248-541-8545. We’re looking forward to a fun weekend away!

Weekend Retreat & Quilt-in
Friday, November 14, Saturday, November 15 & Sunday, November 16, 2008
Howell Conference & Nature Center

It’s almost here!! We’re in the final stages of our pre-retreat countdown and are sure you are as well. Again, it’s a UFO (Un-Finished Object) retreat so bring that quilt or other project you just haven’t had time to finish (or start). We will be on hand if you have questions or run into any problems. We will also have a demonstration on how to use some of those leftover fabrics by making Stash Baskets (see classes on the website). We will have some basic supplies for sale if you forget something as well as the cording if you should like to try your hand at a Stash Basket. Other than that, here’s what you need to bring:

– Your Project
– Sewing Machine-if you want to try making a basket-it must have a zig-zag option
– Comfortable clothing
– Pajamas for a pajama party
– Basic sewing supplies, including rotary cutter & ruler-we supply a cutting table
– Portable light-optional
– A finished quilt for show and tell
– Bring your favorite treat and remember to bring enough to share!
– We will have jugs of water, but if you bring your own soda and/or adult beverages, please help us conserve room in the refrigerator by bringing a cooler.

By popular request and in the spirit of the retreat, we ask that all phones be on silent mode. If you must talk on the phone, please do so in the privacy of your own room. Thank you!

Map Direction for Retreat:
Follow I-696 west to Lansing.
Stay left through all splits on E-way, like M-5, I-275, US-23.  After passing US-23 to Flint or Ann Arbor, you will see Brighton exits and then Howell exits.  Go to the last Howell exit #137 or D-19 Road.  Going north it is Michigan Road and south it is Pinckney Road.

Follow D-19 south for approx 5 miles.  There is a traffic light at Coon Lake Road and the entrance to the Nature Center is EXACTLY 1 Mile from Coon Rd on the right.

Turn right and go to the end of the facility.  Knoll Lodge is the last building in the camp.
Go to http://www.howellnaturecenter.org. The first picture on the screen is Knoll Lodge shown with the animals.  Take a look, it will be dark when you arrive.  Click on location for road map.

NOTE:  There will be no dinner served on Friday night.  (There is a Cracker Barrel off the first exit past US-23 (Grand River Road) or there are restaurants in Howell.  Take D-19 north to Grand River.  Right turn will get you into town.

Call this number if you’re lost Friday evening only: 517-546-7433.
